Woman gives birth at 66

A 66-year-old woman gave birth to a baby girl. She had been receiving fertility treatment for almost ten years before being artificially inseminated. I am concerned with this news because I think that She is too old to have a baby. By the time the baby turns to 20, The woman will be over 85 years old. What if the woman passes away before the baby grow up. Well, I understand how the woman feel but I just think She was being selfish. She had other choices such as adapting a baby without going trough high risks.

Briton furious over politician's expenses

British people are expressing their outrage over how much they have to pay for their politicians. I am sick of hearing such corruption. I can not trust them anymore. I think that most of politicians are trying to earn money instead of making our country better. I feel like paying taxes is throwing my money away.

Rent-a-friend

There are some businesses called Rend-a-friend. The friends for rent are professional fakers. They will pretend to be anyone you want them to be. I think that It is sad that people do not have friends but I think if I do not have any friend, I may ask them to be my friends. You know everybody have secrets that they do not want others to know so that I think businesses like Rent-a-friend is one way to seal their secrets.

Sonnets 130

My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun;
Coral is far more red than her lips' red;
If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun;
If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head.
I have seen roses damask'd, red and white,
But no such roses see I in her cheeks;
And in some perfumes is there more delight
Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks.
I love to hear her speak, yet well I know
That music hath a far more pleasing sound;
I grant I never saw a goddess go;
My mistress, when she walks, treads on the ground:
And yet, by heaven, I think my love as rare
As any she belied with false compare.

When I read the sonnet for first time, I thought Shakespeare is jerk. However the last sentence made the sonnet wonderful. His mistress is not beautiful but the best!
How romantic the sonnet is...

Children into computers younger than ever

I do not want let my children use computers at the age. I think children should play outsides to built their friendship with others and polish their sensibility. Kids need to use computers when they grow up so it is too early to let them use computers. There are many improper websites for children.

Long hours hazardous to health

Working long hours makes workers to injury and illness, regardless of how hazardous or menial the job is. There are many problems in Japan. Recently, I watch a TV news about the man who was working at Mcdonald's died from overwork and his family sued the company for consolation money. That news was very shocking to me. I think that workers need to have more guts to stand up for companies' faults. They have the right to do that.

West With The Night: Flying The Atlantic

Beryl Markham is born in England and moved to Kenya when she was a child. She worked as a trainer and breeder of race horses. She became the first woman to earn a pilot's license in Africa and the first person to fly solo across the Atlantic from east to west.She is one of my favorite heroines. I think that at that time women were discriminated by man and were looked down by the society. However she did not give up on her dream. I want to be energetic as much as she was. I want to be a wonderful woman some day.

Traffic' gridlock' as snow falls

The police in South Wales have urged motorists not to travel after snowfall caused severe traffic problems around the M4 and other major routes. In Okinawa there is no snow so that we do not have such problems, but the weather getting weird every year. Last week was freezing cold and this week is getting hot. Is that because of the global warming?

Guantanamo guard reunited with ex-inmate

The former Guantanamo Bay prison guard track down two of his former captives. After 6 months to serve in Iraq, Mr Neely quite the military to become a police officer and he still struggling to come to terms with his time as a guard at Guantanamo.He wanted to apologize to his former captives. I have seen some recorded videos which people in jails are beaten by US troops on a TV news. I could not believe such things because most of news were like US troops are fighting for peace of Iraq or saving people from al Qaeda. Such stupid US soldiers need to be punished strictly.

Simple, Low-Cost Ways tp cut Risk of an Early Birth

According to the article, each year an estimated thirteen million babies are born too soon and more that one million of them die as a result of their prematurity. Most preterm births take place in Africa and Asia. There are programs in Africa that teach the skin-to-skin method, also known as kangaroo care. Mothers learn to carry preterm babies in front instead of the traditional African way. I think that nowadays the number of preterm babies are increasing in developed countries because women tend to have babies at older ages and use of fertility treatments.

Facial Expressions Are Not Universal

According to the article, East Asians focus mostly on people's eyes to read an emotion, but Europeans and Americans scan whole face. I am not sure about that, but I always feel that actors and actresses seem exaggerating in Holley Wood moves. I think that Asians express their emotion mostly by whole faces and Europeans and American use facial expressions and gestures.

Woman Fired for Using Capital Letters

Vicki Walker, an accountant was fired due to Sending a Email to co-worker with capital letters. I am curious why she did such thing. I think that there is some cultural differences. I do not think using caps is rude. The company needed to consult with her about what she meant by that.

Cinderella

I think every girls thought of becoming a Cinderella when they were little. I had been dreamed that someday I will marry to a man just like the prince when I was a little. I also liked the music.
In Japanese there is a word called " Cinderella time". It means that twelve o clock. The story is one of my favorite.

U.K. Smoking Ban

The British government will ban smoking in most public places to protect public health and reduce the number of illness and premature deaths caused by secondhand smoke. I think the idea is amazing for me but probably not for smokers. Cigarettes have no good for our health. The idea will help not only nonsmokers but also a lot of smokers who want to quite smoking.

Food companies targeting kids online

Food companies are ensnaring children into the net of consumerism. Some companies focuses its ads more than on enticing kids with cheap, giveaway toys than food. Now such industry has too big to stop so that parents need to be very careful about what their children eat everyday. Children love junk foods and candies which make no good to their health. It is responsible for parents to take care kids' eating habits and health conditions.

Cut-and paste essays a problem in shool

A survey by British Association of Teachers and Lectures has revealed that 58 percent of British teachers believe copying work from theinternet is a serious problem. I think it is also a problem for Japan. I use information from the inter net for my essays but I have never cut- and -pasted from websites because I feel guilty and bad for teachers. To be frank with you, I would not do that because I am afraid of losing trust.

Pig organ transplants within 5 years

Scientists have insisted that the transplantation of organs from animals to humans could become a reality within five years and pigs will be the most likely provider of organs. I think that the idea is amazing but the method sacrifices animals a lot. There are other method to save human lives. For example, the research that creating human organs from small human tissues can save both human and animal lives.

100 dollars laptop for world's poor children

The Massachusetts Institute of technology has announced their plants to produce a laptop computer for under 100 dollars to children in developing countries. I think that the idea is damn.
What they need is not a computer but foods, shelters, and education. A lot of children in developing countries can not even read or write alphabets. I think that the idea has created by rich people who have never been to developing countries.

Artificial Brain Ten Years Away

A top British professor insisted that he is close to building a replica human brain. He has already had success with creating parts of rat's brain. In my opinion the idea sounds great, but I also worry that whether patients with replica brain still have their characteristics and memories.

World's population getting older

The world population is getting older and older. By 2040, experts predict one per cent of the Japanese population will be over 100 years old. It is mostly because of the medical improvement.
I think that it is good , but there are some problems we have to face with. For example the increasing number of elderly people lead to a much more burden to younger generations. I think we have to rethink about Japanese retirement age once again.

Cigarette packets to carry gory pictures

The British government attempt to discourage smokers from smoking by putting gory pictures on cigarette packets. These will include images of diseased lungs blackened by tar next to a set of clean, healthy lungs. I think that the idea is good to help smokers quitting their smoking habits and reduce the number of people who die from smoking. However there are some problems too. For example in Japan, the government put a lot of taxes on cigarette so that decreasing the number of smokers lead to lower tax income to the government.

Smacking Kids Lower their I.Q.

Recently the new research has found that smacking, or spanking, children can affect their intelligence. In addition to this, some experts say that being hit by parents is traumatic experience and such stresses affect brain badly.
I used to be spanked by my parents a lot as a punishment when I was a little, but I understood that that's because I did something wrong or misbehaved. I have never thought my experience as a traumatic experience, that's need to be done. Most important thing is that whether children understand their behaviors or attitudes were wrong.

Corruption widespread in 70 countries

Corruption is so widespread around the world because people only think about themselves. We all want to be richer and happier than anybody else so that people tend to put their hands into a cookie jar.
To reduce corruptions, we need to have more watchdog groups and make sure that there is no connection between politicians and watchdog groups.

Retirement age may be extended to 85

I do not want to work until 85. I wonder is there any people who want to work until that age. Due to the medical improvement world populations are getting older and the situation is serious in Japan. There are a lot of elderly people who are energetic and powerful for their ages but they had worked hard for raising up their children or for their lives. It is hush to let them keep working until that age.

Anti-smoking vaccine developed

A Swiss company has invented anti-nicotine vaccine. That's sounds good! I hate the smell and it gives me a head ache. I think that there is no benefit for people from smoking. The vaccine can help smokers and reduce the number of people whom die from smoking.

Divorce rate explosion expected in Japan

I think that increasing the divorce rate in Japan can not be stopped because of three reasons.
First, a lot of women have started working outside and they are busy so it is hard for them to handle their work and domestic homes together. In Japan, it was said that “men work outside and women work inside their houses”that is to say wives should do housework and parenting while their spouses are working outside. That was our culture. However lifestyles of people in Japan have changed dramatically compared to last six decades and the changes are needed for Japan to compete with other countries in the global economy. A lot of women have started their careers in this society and they are working hard, as well as, men. It is good for women to have a connection with society but it is obvious that women getting jobs makes the domestic homes uneasy.
Secondly, as the article already says, divorce once considered a social no-no has gradually changed. In these days a lot of people regard getting a divorce as starting their life afresh. Men and women do not need to be patient any more!
Finally due to the passing of new pension laws by the government, a lot of women who are thinking of getting a divorce will be helped financially. Women who have been working only inside their houses are having difficulty to adjust to society and need some time. Financial help gives them a lot of courage in becoming independent.
I believe that changing the social no-no attitude towards divorce and providing financial help by the government are needed for women to start their careers. I think getting a divorce is one of the choices for people to become independent and it is not always bad to get a divorce .

Do Computers make our society better or worse?

According to the article, a young Korean man died after playing an online computer game for 50 hours. I think that people easily become addicted to PCs. People spend a lot of time using PCs because of their jobs or for entertainment. It is not good for their health, especially for children.

Secondly, PCs might be used for crimes such as murders and frauds. In Japan, It is common for people to meet others through websites. However many criminals use these websites because using PCs are easier to find their targets. People can be anyone on the PCs. In Korea, four famous actresses have committed suicide due to the slanders on the Internet. Sadly, they were targeted. Everybody has a possibility of being a target and it might ruin our life as those actresses.

To protect people from getting into such trouble, the Japanese governments should set stricter rules about PCs.
